Over the last five years, the forces have faced a new challenge with Pakistan sending illegal arms and drugs through drones.

Man In UK Threatens To Poop On Airport Conveyor Belt Over Luggage Delay
London Gatwick Airport recently witnessed an extraordinary scene when an impatient traveller had an epic meltdown while waiting for his luggage. According to the New York Post, the passenger, who unleashed a verbal tirade on the baggage carousel, threatened to defecate on the conveyor belt if his baggage didn't arrive promptly. "We are waiting! If you don't hurry up I will go poo on the f***ing trail!" the impatient man angrily vowed at the airport.
This recent incident has set a new benchmark for baggage carousel drama. The British traveller, whose name remains unknown, unleashed an epic meltdown after his luggage took a few extra minutes to arrive on a conveyor belt. As per the Post, the man screamed into the carousel in an attempt to talk to baggage handlers behind the scenes. He then threatened to defecate on the belt if his luggage didn't arrive promptly.
The fed-up flier waited for around 15-20 minutes for his baggage before climbing onto the conveyor belt and threatening to poop again in public, the outlet reported. ""Helloooo? Hellloooo?" the passenger shouted in the abyss. "I'll tell you what, if you don't hurry up I'm going to lay a Richard [defecate] right in front of it [the baggage carousel]," he said.
The man's luggage emerged on the conveyor belt after an exorbitantly long wait time. His baggage was the first to make its grand entrance. "It's number one!" he excitedly shouted with triumphant joy, as per people who witnessed the absurd incident. It is not known when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident earlier this year, a passenger onboard an American Airlines flight was kicked out of the plane after a heated argument with a member of the cabin crew over the number of bags kept in the overhead storage bins. A video of the same was shared on Reddit.
In the clip, the man, who had his hair in a top knot and was wearing a yellow t-shirt, was captured on camera yelling "there's no space" repeatedly after another passenger allegedly kept their luggage above him and then took their seat. The passenger said in the video, "This guy put his luggage up here, now we don't have any space. He's got no space." He continued repeating the same phrase as other passengers boarded the plane.
The Reddit user who posted the video claimed the man had utilised four of the overhead bins to store his luggage and that he could be seen removing numerous bags as he was being removed. "Ironically, he had like 4 big bags on the overhead bins. I left out the horrendous racist comments he made to the gentleman who put his luggage in the overhead bin," reads the description of the video.

"Top 10 In India's History": Gavaskar's Epic Praise For Rahul's Ton vs SA
KL Rahul's brave century during the ongoing opening Test against South Africa here on Wednesday drew high acclaim from the legendary Sunil Gavaskar, who has rated the knock "in the top ten in the history" of India's red-ball cricket. Rahul, who walked into the middle while the Indians were four down for 92 on Day 1 on Tuesday, made a gutsy 101 off 137 balls before being knocked over by debutant pacer Nandre Burger, as the visitors were all out for 245.
Commentating in Hindi on Star Sports, Gavaskar asserted that Rahul's knock had come on a difficult surface, where the ball was behaving erratically, and felt that the confidence needed to bat on such a track has to be enormous.
"I have been watching cricket for over 50 years now, and I can undoubtedly say this century by Rahul has to be in the top ten of India's Test history because it's a different pitch here," Gavaskar said.
"A batter would not gain the confidence so easily that he has set, especially with the ball doing anything at any time." Applauding the six that Rahul hit off Gerald Coetzee to get to his ton, Gavaskar added, "The shot with which he reached to his hundred, no praise would be enough for it. It was a length ball, and he played a shot that you would normally see in T20s. Amazing!" Rahul's century happened to be his second at this ground. He is now the only overseas batter to have multiple Test tons here.
Striking 14 fours and four sixes during his knock, he has also become the second Indian wicketkeeper-batter after Rishabh Pant to hit a Test century in the country.
Rahul also continued his impeccable record of scoring hundreds in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries, with five of his eighth tons coming in these nations.

Ex-India Star's Reply To Fan Trolling Him For Comment On Rahul Goes Viral
Former Indian cricket team wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel took to social media to express his views regarding KL Rahul potentially keeping wickets in the first Test match between India and South Africa starting December 26 in Centurion. Parthiv said that in his opinion, India's wicket-keeper in Tests should be a player who has kept wickets regularly in Ranji Trophy or first-class cricket - something that Rahul has never done. "india's test match wicketkeeper should be someone who is keeping regularly in ranji trophy or first class cricket….#imho #INDvSA #IndianCricket," he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

There were some social media users who trolled him for his comments by posting videos and news articles about catches and stumping that he missed during his playing career. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma on Monday said, as a leader, he wants his team to "achieve" what others Indian sides in the past have failed to do in South Africa.
Since their first Test series in South Africa in 1992, India have never achieved success there.
India will play South Africa in the the first of the two Tests starting here on Tuesday.
"Want to achieve what nobody has achieved in this part of the world," Rohit said during the pre-match press conference.
Rohit also did not want to speak about his cricketing future, just saying that he wants to enjoy the game.
"I want to play whatever cricket is there in front of me," he said without elaborating his plans.
KL Rahul is expected to keep wickets in the first Test but the skipper said it will be is up to wicketkeeper-batter to decide how long he wants to don the gloves in the five-day format.
"I am not sure how long KL Rahul would want to keep wickets but he is keen as of now," said Rohit.

Vinesh Phogat To Return Khel Ratna, Arjuna Awards
Less than a week after Sakshee Malikkh announced her retirement from wrestling and Bajrang Punia returned his Padma Shri, Vinesh Phogat, the third top wrestler who was part of the protests against former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has announced that she will return her Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award.
Brij Bhushan, a BJP MP, had been accused of sexual harassment by many women wrestlers, and Ms Malikkh, Mr Punia and Ms Phogat had been at the forefront of the protests against him.
The wrestlers' decisions have been taken in quick succession in a span of six days since a panel led by Sanjay Singh, a close aide of Brij Bhushan, won the elections to the Wrestling Federation of India by a landslide on Thursday, indicating a continuity of leadership in the body. The panel was suspended by the sports ministry on Sunday.
In an emotional open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, Ms Phogat, who has won gold medals at both the Commonwealth and Asian Games, asked whether women wrestlers were made only to grace government advertisements and said she is returning the Khel Ratna - the country's highest sporting honour - and Arjuna Award so that they don't become a "burden on the path of living with dignity".
Ms Phogat has also said that the wrestlers were considered the country's pride when they won medals, but are now being labelled traitors because they spoke out for justice. "Prime Minister, I want to ask you, are we traitors?" she wrote.
'Daughter Of Your House'
In the letter, written in Hindi, Ms Phogat says, "Sakshee Malikkh has quit wrestling and Bajrang Punia has returned his Padma Shri. The whole country knows why the players who won Olympic medals for the country were forced to do all this; and you are the head of the country, so this matter must have reached you too. Prime Minister, I am Vinesh Phogat, a daughter of your house and I am writing this letter to you to tell you about the condition I have been in for the past year."
"I remember the year 2016, when Sakshee Malikkh won a medal in the Olympics, your government named her the brand ambassador of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'. When this was announced, all the women players of the country were happy and were sending congratulatory messages to each other. Today, ever since Sakshi had to leave wrestling, I am remembering that year again and again. Are we women players made only to appear on government advertisements," she asked.
Stating that winning an Olympics medal is her dream, which is now fading, she said that the lives of women wrestlers are nothing like the "fancy advertisements".
Referring to Brij Bhushan's remark after the wrestling body elections that his dominance would continue, Ms Phogat exhorted the Prime Minister to spare five minutes to listen to the former WFI chief's comments. She alleged that the "exploiter" Brij Bhushan had admitted on television that he had made women wrestlers uncomfortable and had utilised every opportunity to humiliate them.
'Called Traitors'
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist said the wrestlers had been struggling on the streets for a year but were still waiting for justice.
"When we won medals for the country, the whole country considered us its pride. Now that we raised our voice for justice, we are being called traitors. Prime Minister, I want to ask you, are we traitors," she asked.
The wrestler, who broke out in tears at a press conference after the results of the WFI election on Thursday, said no mother would like to see her daughter in the condition she finds herself in.
Ms Phogat said she was ecstatic when she received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and the Arjuna Award. "But now I want to get rid of the image of Vinesh receiving the award, because that was a dream and what is happening with us now is the reality," she wrote.
Stating that the awards have no meaning in her life now, the wrestler said, "Every woman wants to live life with respect. Thus, Prime Minister sir, I want to return my Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award to you so that these awards do not become a burden on us in the path of living with dignity."

Merchant Ship Was Hit By Drone 400 Km West Of Indian Coast, Confirms Navy
Merchant vessel MV Chem Pluto was struck by a drone 400 km of the Indian coastline, a Navy analysis confirmed today. The ship with 21 crew members (20 Indians and 1 Vietnamese) arrived at the Mumbai port under the protection of Indian Coast Guard ship Vikram today, two days after it was struck in the Arabian sea.
On its arrival, an explosive ordnance disposal team of the Navy carried out a detailed inspection of the ship.
Analysis of the area of attack and debris found on the ship pointed towards a drone attack and further forensic and technical analysis will be required to ascertain all the details, Navy officials said.
Several images showed the damage caused to a part of the Liberian-flagged ship by the suspected drone attack.
The attack came amid a flurry of new drone and missile attacks by Yemen's Iran-backed Huthi rebels on the vital Red Sea shipping lane since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, with the group claiming to act in solidarity with Gaza.
Amid the spate of recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Arabian Sea, the Navy has deployed warships INS Mormugao, INS Kochi and INS Kolkata to maintain a deterrent presence in the region, the officials said. Long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft P8Is are being regularly tasked to maintain domain awareness, they said.
The Pentagon claimed the tanker ship was targeted by a drone "fired from Iran." It was the first time the Pentagon openly accused Iran of directly targeting ships since the start of Israel's war on Hamas, which is backed by Tehran.
The Navy and the Indian Coast Guard swung into action by deploying their assets including a warship and maritime patrol aircraft on Saturday soon after the UK Maritime Trade Operations, or UKMTO, reported the drone attack on the ship.
The UKMTO is a British military organisation that provides maritime security information and largely acts as the primary point of contact for merchant vessels involved in maritime incidents.
The vessel was carrying crude oil to the New Mangalore port from the Al Jubail port in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, MV Chem Pluto has been cleared for further operation by its company-in-charge at Mumbai. The ship is scheduled to undergo mandatory checks by the various inspecting authorities before undertaking Ship to Ship (STS) transfer of cargo. This is likely to be followed by docking and repairs of the damaged portion of MV Chem Pluto.

Woman Goes To Hospital With Headache, Wakes Up With No Memory Of 30 Years
A sixty-year-old woman in the US has recalled the time when she woke up with no recollection of the last 30 years of her life after she visited the hospital because of a headache. The intriguing medical case unfolded in 2018 when the woman then 56, awoke with the belief that she was still a teenager in the 1980s, New York Post reported. Kim Denicola, a resident of Louisiana, is now cherishing this Christmas season as she reflects on the many holidays lost to her mysterious memory loss.
''I've lost a lot of Christmases, so it's a big deal,'' Mrs Denicola, now 60, told WAFB. ''It's unbelievable to me as it probably is to other people. Never in my wildest dreams did I get up and go to bible study and think I'm going to wake up in the hospital and I'm going to be 60 years old,'' she added.
According to her family, she developed a blinding headache and sudden blurry vision while at a bible study. When she woke up in the hospital emergency room, she had no recollection that she was married and had two children. The last thing Mrs Denicola remembered was her final day of school.
''I was leaving school and heading for my car. I had just taken an exam because I was graduating my senior year. 'The nurse asked me: "Do you know what year it is?" I said: "Yes, ma'am it is 1980". She asked me who the president was and I said: "Ronald Reagan''.
She was also heartbroken to learn that both her mother and father had died years earlier.
Though she was diagnosed with transient global amnesia (TGA), doctors can't tell her for sure what happened despite extensive tests and scans. Five years later in 2023, the 60-year-old grandmother has still not recovered memories.
Doctors say that if her memories haven't returned by now, they are unlikely to ever resurface.
The woman is still trying to make sense of her new life and is in the process of getting to know her family anew, including her husband, children, and four grandchildren. She has also been reading journal entries to remember her life but says it feels like reading about someone else.
''I may have lost my memories, but guess what? We can make new ones,'' she said.
''You can't be mad and bitter because the good Lord left me here for a reason. Whatever that may be, I'm sure he'll let me know one way or another. And maybe this is it maybe it's to tell people you don't have to give up,'' she added.
Despite the difficulties, she is now re-discovering things she loved and insists that she's moving forward. Mrs Denicola said her Christmas dream is to have her entire family back together celebrating under one roof.
According to the National Library of Medicine, TGA often occurs during periods of ''particularly strenuous activity, high-stress events, or coitus, but it can be seen with migraines.'' It mostly affects individuals middle-aged and older.

Harsh Goenka Shares Intriguing Video On How Phones Impact Relationships
Industrialist Harsh Goenka often shares motivational and interesting posts to keep his social media fans entertained. On Friday, the tech-savvy businessman shared a thought-provoking video about an issue that is significantly relevant to our lives. The video talks about smartphone addiction and how it impacts our relationships. While phones keep us connected and help maintain relationships, in some ways, they drive a wedge between us, too.
Mr Goenka shared the video of inspirational speaker Simon Sinek wherein he explains how even holding a phone in our hands while talking to someone else gives them the impression that they are not the top priority. ''Imagine I'm here talking to you, holding my phone. It's not buzzing, not beeping, and no one's calling me, I'm just holding it. Do you feel as if you're the most important thing to me right now? No, you don't. That's the association'' Mr Sinek said in the video.
''Step away from the screen, embrace the world, and rediscover the joy of living in the moment…..'' the caption of the video shared by Mr Goenka read.
Watch the video here:
Step away from the screen, embrace the world, and rediscover the joy of living in the moment….. pic.twitter.com/Rqqt8gQVmp
— Harsh Goenka (@hvgoenka) December 22, 2023
In the video, Mr. Sinek advised against placing the phone on the table during meetings or family dinners and instead putting it in airplane mode to remove the temptation of incoming notifications.
''And this is how we should be interacting with people, giving them our full attention. Because the idea is not that we hear the words they say, but that they feel heard. If you wake up in the morning and check your phone before you say good morning to the person sitting next to you, you probably have a problem. If you have to take your room to room, no matter where you go, you have a problem. And just like any recreational drug, the more you practice leaving it away.''
He also recommended leaving unnecessary phones at home while going out for a family dinner or client meeting, or keeping them away out of sight, in the car, or in a bag. He concluded the video by saying, ''Like any addiction, it just takes a little work.''
Several internet users appreciated the crucial reminder, while others talked about the difficulty of following the advice in an era where everything is dependent on phones.
One user wrote, ''Living in the moment is a great art.'' Another commented, ''Some calls may be an emergency call, so it can't be possible as a thumb rule. Based on the Situation this can be implemented. Better put it on vibration/silent mode, you can accept/reject that call.''
A third said, ''Nowadays it is very difficult to go out without a phone as we are so much addicted to UPI payments.'' A fourth added, ''Phone addiction is not just another drug, it's worse because of the fact that the power of numbers is behind phone addiction.''
Yet another said, ''The saddest part is we are all seeing this on our phones.''

"If A Player Wants To Go...": GT Coach Ashish Nehra On Hardik Pandya Trade
Hardik Pandya's trade to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Gujarat Titans (GT) was definitely one the most surprising moves in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The all-rounder, who had made his debut in the marquee event playing for MI in 2015, returned to the franchise in 2023 after playing two seasons for GT. MI acquired the services of Hardik in an all-cash deal from GT. Speaking about the trade, GT's head coach Ashish Nehra explained the management's opinion while talking about the move.
"Hardik Pandya has not gone back to a team that has caused a huge surprise. He played for that team for so many years, he showed his desire to go back there. Our management's nature is such that, we think if a player wants to go there, right. He should be happy and that's why he has gone there again," Nehra told JioCinema.
Meanwhile, Nehra admitted that the void created by Hardik could not be filled so easily.
"Replacing someone like Hardik Pandya is difficult, but we tried our best. Having the size of 25 members is a luxury. We got a great all-rounder like Omarzai, we also got Shahrukh Khan. But it will be difficult to make up for somebody like Hardik who has that much talent and that much experience. It is what it is. With the resources we have, we will try and do our best," Nehra added.
With a mixture of youth and experience, Gujarat Titans made some sensible buys at the IPL Player Auction 2024. The former champions roped in Australia pacer Spencer Joshnson for a whopping sum of Rs 10 crore. GT also bought uncapped batter Shahrukh Khan for Rs 7.4 crore, while also roping in veteran pacer Umesh Yadav for Rs 5.8 crore. Apart from them, GT improved their squad depth by acquiring the services of some uncapped Indian players.

Rare Pics Of Black Tigers Found In Odisha Leaves Internet Amazed
Parveen Kaswan, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer who frequently shares fascinating facts about wildlife, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share pictures of 'pseudo-melanistic' tigers found in Simlipal, Odisha. On Friday, he posted the captivating images of this extraordinary tiger, along with details on its rarity and origins. Notably, the melanistic tigers - a rare gene pool on which the black stripes are far more prominent than the Royal Bengal Tiger's - are found only in Odisha. They are often referred to as 'black tigers' due to their dense and dark stripe patterns.
"The black tigers of #India. Do you know there are pseudo- melanistic tigers found in Simlipal. They are such due to genetic mutation & highly rare. Such beautiful creature," Mr Kaswan wrote on X.

In the following tweet, the IFS officer also provided a brief history of 'pseudo-melanistic' tigers in Similipal. He noted that the first confirmed record dates back to 1993 when a young boy of Pdagad village shot down a 'black' tigress with arrows in self-defence. He also said that it wasn't until 2007 that these tigers were officially discovered within the reserve, marking the beginning of a series of documented sightings.
"The first confirmed record of the now famous pseudo-melanistic tigers of Similipal came in 1993. On 21st July 1993 Salku, a young boy of Podagad village shot down a 'black' tigress with arrows in self-defense. The rare tigers were first officially discovered in STR in 2007. With time more were documented. They are due to rare genetic mutation and found in small population," Mr Kaswan wrote.

"Nature is amazing. Amazing creatures," wrote one user. "Wow. All their stripes ran together like ink. Very interesting & beautiful," commented another.
"What a sight! Hope we will be able to conserve this amazing wildlife forever," added a third. "You are so lucky to be with such lovely creations of nature and God," expressed another.
Meanwhile, Mr Kaswan's post comes after the Union Minister of State for Environment, Ashiwini Kumar Choubey, told the Rajya Sabha that there are a total of 10 "black tigers" in India, all exclusively found in Odisha's Similipal. As per the 2022 cycle of the pan-India tiger estimation exercise, the Similipal Tiger Reserve has 16 tigers, out of which 10 exhibit melanism, he said.

US Man Reveals How He Stole iPhones And Looted Strangers' Bank Accounts
A man in the United States, who is serving a 94-month sentence for stealing hundreds of iPhones, has spilled his secret of the criminal trade and disclosed how one can protect oneself from such thefts. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Aaron Johnson, who got arrested last year in Minnesota, revealed how he made approximately $300,000 just by pilfering iPhones and manipulating their financial apps. Surprisingly, his approach seemed beyond innocent to witnesses as the convicted thief said that his victims often handed over their smartphones to him willingly.
Speaking to the publication, the 26-year-old revealed that he would strike bars and clubs by targeting mostly college men because women were more alert to suspicious behaviour. College men were an easy mark as "they're already drunk and don't know what's going on for real," he said.
Johnson would often talk to his victims, sometimes offering drugs, sometimes claiming to be a rapper who wanted to add them on Snapchat. The victim would then hand over their iPhone, expecting him to tap in his phone number and hand it right back. "I say, 'Hey, your phone is locked. What's the passcode?' They say, '2-3-4-5-6,' or something. And then I just remember it," Johnson explained.
Once in, the 26-year-old would then change the Apple ID password "faster than you could say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". He would also deactivate tracking features such as Find My iPhone and add his own biometric to FaceID.
The latter was "the key to everything" as it allowed access to passwords within iCloud Keychain. And after swiftly sidestepping a device's security protocols, Johnson said he would head straight for banking and cryptocurrency apps while also searching notes and photos for sensitive information like Social Security numbers. Then overnight he would drain those bank accounts and finally would go to stores to buy items using Apple Pay.

The 26-year-old revealed that he would unload 30 iPhones and iPads on a good weekend and make $20,000. "I had a rush for large amounts at a time," he told the outlet. "I just got too carried away," he said.
According to WSJ, the police stated that Johnson and his colleagues stole $300,000. However, he revealed that the figure is much higher, between $1 million and $2 million in all.
Notably, all of this was done before Apple released its Stolen Device Protection in iOS 17.3. This feature intentionally causes an hour-long delay before implementing changes in passwords and Face or Touch IDs when a phone or other product is operating in an unfamiliar location.
Speaking to the publication, Johnson advised people to not share passcodes. As to why he would reveal his tricks, he said, "I'm already serving time". "I just feel like I should try to be on the other end of things and try to help people," he added.

No Outsiders Allowed In India's Warm-up Game Before SA Tests. Reason Is...
Shubman Gill was at his silken best during Indian team's intra-squad training game at the Tuks Oval on Thursday even though there wasn't an opportunity to get a glimpse of that enchanting sight. Coming in at No. 3, Gill helped himself to a hundred on the second day of the three-day match, playing all the bowlers with consummate ease, adding a dash of confidence in him ahead of the two-match Test series against South Africa beginning on December 26.
The Tuks Oval in Pretoria has been kept out of bounds for media even as the Indian team went ahead with their match simulation ahead of the Boxing Day Test. The venue is around 45-minute drive from the Supersport Park in Centurion where the first Test will be held.
Trying to keep their cards close to the chest, head coach Rahul Dravid and team management didn't want the match to be watched by outsiders as it can give a clearer idea about their strategy to be deployed against the Proteas.
Closed door trainings are a common feature among world's football team's (club and country) where media is only allowed to watch warm-ups and then asked to leave when coaches come to tactical training. But Indian cricket team over the years, has at times, uses the 'Closed Door' policy to keep media at bay for the entire duration.
Apart from Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal also got himself a half-century before being retired out in order to give others a chance to bat.
Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad's finger injury could possibly warrant a few more days of rest and the Maharashtra right-hander might not be in contention to be selected for the first Test.
Gaikwad had hurt his ring finger during second ODI and wasn't selected for the third match against SA on Thursday.
However, Gaikwad not being considered for selection will not be a big deal as far as Test matches are concerned since all slots in batting order are filled as of now.

Manipur Donor Tried To Save Infant, Shocked To See "Killed In Violence" Posts
A Manipur woman was shocked to see the name of a one-month-old infant, whom she knew, appear on social media posts as a "victim" of the ethnic violence that began on May 3.
Bisoya Loitongbam, 41, knew the infant as she had donated Rs 1 lakh for the treatment of Hirschsprung disease, a birth defect in which some nerve cells are missing in the large intestine.
The infant had been already under treatment at a hospital in the state capital Imphal for three weeks before May 3, the SOS note sent to prospective donors show. May 3 was the day clashes broke out between the hill-majority Kuki tribes and the valley-majority Meiteis.
"I got a call from the top district official on May 7 about a baby who needs to be admitted to a good hospital with advanced equipment. The next day I immediately sent Rs 1 lakh. I got to know from the doctors that the baby unfortunately died after surgery on May 9," Ms Loitongbam told NDTV on phone from Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, where she is based.
She showed NDTV a screenshot of the money she sent using UPI for the infant's surgery.

Ms Loitongbam is the national lead of the massively successful '10BedICU' project, founded by former Aadhaar chief technology officer (CTO) Srikanth Nadhamuni. The project is being run in many states and also supported by state governments. The project started in March 2021 amid the Covid pandemic to create intensive care unit (ICU) infrastructure in rural and smaller government hospitals.
"I feel extremely sad. People have to use the death of a baby in their hate posts when it had nothing to do with the violence. I can't imagine what the doctors who treated the baby must be feeling," Ms Loitongbam said, adding she has been deeply involved in medical philanthropy and sourcing medicines for the weaker sections. "I wish all of us should now focus on how to resolve the humanitarian crisis," she added.
"Politicising Emotive Issues"
In a post on X, Ms Loitongbam asked people to stop "politicising emotive issues" and "destroying whatever humanity" is left.
The social media posts on the mass burial of 87 people from the Kuki-Zo tribes in Churachandpur district alleged the one-month-old infant was killed by mobs in Imphal valley. Of the 87 bodies, 41 were airlifted from morgues in Imphal months after the violence broke out.
The SOS note sent to prospective donors says the infant was first admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal in the second week of April. His parents came from the hill district Churachandpur.
However, following the outbreak of violence on May 3, the parents took shelter in a relief camp set up by the 2nd Manipur Rifles. The next day, i.e. May 4, the relief camp officials rushed the baby to Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre as he needed surgical intervention.
"The father of the baby... is just a farmer and has lost all their belongings during the sudden shifting from RIMS to 2nd MR (Manipur Rifles) relief camp. Under no circumstances he is able to pay for the treatment... There is a need for financial assistance to save the life of the baby," the SOS to the donors read. NDTV has seen the note.
Three days later, the District Commissioner - "a mother herself" - contacted Ms Loitongbam if she could help.

Hospital Warns Of Action
The management of Imphal-based Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre, where the infant was treated, today told NDTV they are discussing taking criminal defamation action against those - especially social media influencers - who shared and circulated the fake information.
"The doctor was very upset. We all tried our best to save the baby. It is not right to use the death of a baby who suffered a serious congenital disease as a propaganda tool. We are doctors. All human lives are the same for us," a top officer of the hospital management said, requesting anonymity.
The officer said the hospital has kept the medical case files of the infant for further action against those who floated the malicious allegations.
After the infant died, the parents did not come to take the body due to the volatile situation, and so the hospital handed over the body to the authorities.

New Covid Strain Classified As "Variant Of Interest" By WHO
The World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday classified the JN.1 coronavirus strain as a "variant of interest", but said it did not pose much threat to public health.
"Based on the available evidence, the additional global public health risk posed by JN.1 is currently evaluated as low," WHO said.
JN.1 was previously classified as a variant of interest as a part of its parent lineage BA.2.86.
The United Nations agency said current vaccines continue to protect against severe disease and death from JN.1 and other circulating variants of the COVID-19 virus.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) earlier this month said that the subvariant JN.1 makes up about an estimated 15% to 29% of cases in the United States as of Dec. 8, according to the agency's latest projections.
It added that currently there is no evidence that JN.1 presents an increased risk to public health relative to other currently circulating variants and an updated shot could keep Americans protected against the variant.
JN.1 was first detected in the US in September, according to the CDC.
Last week, China detected seven infections of the COVID subvariant.

LK Advani, MM Joshi "Requested Not To Come" To Jan Event: Ram Temple Trust
BJP veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi who were at the forefront of the agitation for the Ram temple in Ayodhya are unlikely to attend next month's consecration ceremony due to their health and age, the temple trust said in Ayodhya on Monday.
"Both are elders of the family and considering their age, they were requested not to come, which was accepted by both," Ram Temple Trust general secretary Champat Rai told reporters.
Mr Rai said preparations are in full swing for the consecration ceremony on January 22, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The preparations would be completed by January 15 and the puja for 'praan pratistha' will start from January 16 and will continue till 22nd January, he added.
Giving a detailed list of the invitees, Mr Rai said Mr Advani and Mr Joshi might not attend the consecration ceremony due to health and age-related reasons.
Mr Advani is now 96 and Mr Joshi will turn 90 next month.
A three-member team has been formed to visit former prime minister Deve Gowda and invite him to the ceremony, Rai said.
"Shankaracharyas of six darshanas (ancient schools) and around 150 saints and sages and will participate in the ceremony," Mr Rai said.
He added that about 4,000 saints and 2,200 other guests have been invited for the ceremony.
Heads of major temples like Kashi Vishwanath, Vaishno Devi, and representatives of religious and constitutional institutions have also been invited, he said.
Spiritual leader Dalai Lama, Mata Amritanandamayi of Kerala, yoga guru Baba Ramdev, cine stars Rajnikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Arun Govil, film director Madhur Bhandarkar and prominent industrialists such as Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, famous painter Vasudev Kamat, ISRO Director Nilesh Desai and many other eminent personalities have been invited to the function, Rai said.
After the consecration ceremony, 'mandal puja' will be held from January 24 for 48 days as per ritual traditions. The temple will be opened for devotees on January 23, he added.
Mr Rai said that proper arrangements have been made for the guests to stay at more than three places in Ayodhya. Apart from this, 600 rooms have been made available by various monasteries, temples and household families.
Meanwhile, authorities of the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation said they have begun preparing for the consecration ceremony.
Speaking to PTI, Municipal Commissioner Vishal Singh said that fibre toilets will be installed for devotees and changing rooms will be set up for women at designated places.
The 'Ram Katha Kunj' corridor will be built in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex which would showcase tableaux displaying 108 events from Lord Ram's life, he said.
