Jemimah Shares Emotional Moment With Her Father After Women's WC Show - Video

Jemimah Rodrigues shared an emotional moment with her parents in the stands after guiding India to the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 final with a victory over Australia on Thursday. Chasing a mammoth 339, Rodrigues looked in sublime form and her unbeaten 127 proved to be crucial as India clinched the match by 5 wickets. It was a special batting display from the 25-year-old who dominated the Australia bowlers and stitched a crucial partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur. Jemimah broke down after India registered the historic win and minutes later, she was seen meeting her family in the stands. The cricketer hugged her father and coach Ivan Rodrigues before speaking to her family members.

Jemimah Rodrigues struck a majestic century, the most important of her career, and with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur blasting 89 off 88 deliveries. India aced a stiff chase to dethrone Australia with a five-wicket win and set up a summit clash with South Africa in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup here on Thursday.

In one of the most memorable matches of her career, Rodrigues hammered an unbeaten 127 off 134 balls (14x4) and shared a 167-run partnership with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (89) as India reached 341/5 off 48.3 overs to overcome Australia's 338 all out in the second semifinal at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

India's chase of a mammoth target of 339 got off to a poor start as Shafali Verma lasted only five balls in the middle. Scoring 10 runs with two fours. Verma was drafted into the squad as a last-ditch replacement for the injured Pratika Rawal had an opportunity to make a sensational return to the squad in the all-important clash but could not stay longer at the crease.

Her opening partner and India's batting mainstay, Smriti Mandhana, scored a run-a-ball 24, given out by the TV umpire after Ultra Edge detected a faintest of faint edge behind to keeper Alyssa Healy on DRS review off Kim Garth, who claimed 2-29 in her first spell of five overs.

But the hosts found their saviours in Rodrigues, who came in to bat in the absence of Harleen Deol and made the most of the opportunity, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur as they raised 167 runs for the second wicket partnership.

Jemimah Breaks Down After Carrying India To Women's World Cup Final. Watch

Jemimah Rodrigues slammed an unbeaten century as India defeated Australia by five wickets to enter the Women's World Cup final. Jemimah, who hit 127 not out off 134 balls, batting for more than 190 minutes, helping India achieve a record chase in Women's ODIs. The 25-year-old broke down after Amanjot Kaur hit the winning runs to seal India's place in the Sunday final against South Africa. Jemimah anchored the innings brilliantly, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur made a crucial 89 off 88 deliveries.

The Indian players surrounded Jemimah, who couldn't control her emotions after playing the knock of her life.

A new champion will be crowned in Navi Mumbai on Sunday after Australia's elimination from the tournament.

Jemimah made the seven-time world champions pay for dropping her multiple times.

Earlier, opener Phoebe Litchfield's 119 off 93 balls was the cornerstone of Australia's massive total of 338 in 50 overs in the second semifinal.

Besides Litchfield, Ellyse Perry (77 off 88 balls) added stability during a 155-run stand for the second wicket, while Ashleigh Gardner provided late fireworks with 65 off 45 balls after Australia opted to bat first.

It was a tough day for the bowlers as only young spinner Shree Charani (2/49 in 10 overs) managed to contain the flow of runs. Deepti Sharma (2/73) picked up a couple of wickets but proved expensive.

For Australia, Kim Garth (2/46) and Annabel Sutherland (2/69) were among the wickets.

Brief Scores: Australia 338 in 50 overs (Phoebe Litchfield 119, Ellyse Perry 77, Ashleigh Gardner 65; Deepti Sharma 2/73, Shree Charani 2/49).

Danish Chikna alias Danish Merchant, who had been on the run, looked after operations of the drug network linked to Dawood's gang in the country, an official said.

The NCB has arrested Danish and three other persons and seized 1.341 kg of mephedrone from their possession, he said.

Based on intelligence inputs, the NCB Mumbai on September 18 intercepted a person in Pune, from whom 502 gm of mephedrone was seized.

In the immediate follow-up, 839 gm of the contraband was seized from another drug associate at the home of Danish and his wife in Mumbai, the official said.

During the probe, Danish, the "kingpin", and his wife were identified to be operating the drug syndicate. They had been on the run and travelled across multiple states to dodge the movement trail, he said.

After intensive follow-up action, they were located at a holiday resort in Goa.

The NCB team apprehended them from the resort in Goa on October 25. After interrogation, both were placed under arrest, the NCB said in a statement.

From Driving Cab To $2 Million A Year: Indian Immigrant's Success Story

In 2006, Money Singh arrived in San Francisco from India as a 19-year-old with little excitement about his new life. He struggled socially and emotionally in his first year and dropped out of college after discovering that his Indian academic credits wouldn't transfer. "I was depressed for that one year. I wanted to go back. Socially, I was very alone," he said.

Urged by his mother to find a job, Singh began working for 6 dollars an hour as a dispatcher for his uncle's cab company.

What followed was over a decade in the taxi business that laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey. Singh began driving his own cab, gradually expanding into a small fleet of five. He then launched his own dispatch company before founding Driver's Network, a marketing and advertising agency tailored for independent drivers.

Today, Singh's businesses bring in more than $2 million annually, CNBC reported. He credits his deep understanding of the struggles and needs of drivers for the success of Driver's Network. The platform helps gig workers earn additional income by turning their vehicles into moving billboards for brands.

In 2018, Money Singh felt it was time to branch out beyond the taxi industry. While continuing to manage his driver-focused ad agency, now called ATCS Platform Solutions, he explored new business opportunities. Inspired by his partner Joypreet's suggestion and drawing from his mother's background as a salon owner in both India and Northern California, Singh teamed up with a local barber to launch Dandies Barbershop and Beard Stylist in Mountain View in June 2019.

"You have to go through permitting. You have to go through dealing with the city. t took me a solid year to get the license to even open the shop, so I was paying rent for one year before I could open the shop," he added.

The gamble paid off. In 2024, Dandies generated ₹1.07 million in sales, while ATCS brought in ₹1.18 million, according to documents reviewed by CNBC Make It. Both ventures are profitable, and Singh remains actively involved in each. He now works full-time at Dandies and devotes around 20 hours a week to ATCS.

Balancing two businesses wasn't easy, but Singh credits his hands-on approach and willingness to learn for helping Dandies grow from the ground up. He handled everything from marketing to customer experience, all while continuing to lead ATCS.

Now 38, Singh has no plans to slow down. He says he doesn't believe in the idea of retirement and enjoys staying productive and creating opportunities for others. "I don't think I'll ever retire. I would want to work all the way through. That's just what I breathe," he said.

Govt may announce skill financing scheme

New Delhi: India is firming up a new scheme-Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Mudra Yojana (PMKMY)- to fund skilling of the country's growing workforce, marking a major push to make financing a key part of the skills ecosystem. The scheme is likely to be announced in the upcoming Budget 2026-27 in February and could be spread over a five-year period. The scheme is the key component of a comprehensive financing model being firmed up by ministry of skills development and entrepreneurship, aimed at meeting the growing demand for workforce development in India while ensuring that resources reach all segments, including women, rural youth and persons with disabilities, ET has learnt. While details of the scheme size, target beneficiaries and mode of implementation are being finalized for consideration at the highest level, a senior government official aware of the deliberations told ET that the government funding is aimed at providing beneficiaries with broader access to both high-end government and private training providers where the cost of skills training is much higher. 124832305 "Besides, funding will be prioritized for emerging sectors like renewable energy, semiconductors, electric vehicles, defence and other high-tech and sunrise sectors to prepare a pool of trained manpower as India works towards becoming self-reliant and Viksit Bharat," the official added. Other proposals in the pipeline to develop a robust funding mechanism include targeted interest subvention to marginalised groups and special regions to improve accessibility and affordability of skilling and expanding blended finance model through philanthropic and CSR funding sources. The government is of the view that India's skill finance market needs to be expanded through credit guarantees and better data for loan underwriting, thus reducing risks for lenders and enhancing skills finance.

Celebrity Chef Ranveer Brar Reveals His Secret For Making The World's Best Omelette

Fluffy, golden, and ready to be stuffed with cheese, herbs, or vegetables, the omelette remains one of the most beloved breakfast classics of all time. This satisfying dish offers a perfect balance of high-quality protein, essential vitamins, and minerals, and there are countless recipes using simple ingredients. However, few people know the true secret to making an omelette that can rival the quality of a world-class restaurant. Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar has revealed his perfect answer to this culinary quest, sharing his surprisingly simple tricks.

In a candid conversation on The Ranveer Show with Ranveer Allahbadia, Chef Brar disclosed his steps for creating what he calls the world's best omelette. He begins his luxurious recipe by first adding a little cream to the eggs, followed by a measure of melted butter, which instantly increases the richness of the mixture.

Afterwards, the chef shared a key secret for achieving a fantastic restaurant-style omelette: simple omelettes enhanced with a savoury cheese flavour. He advises, "And if you want to add a little bit of cheese flavour, and you don't want to tell anyone, then you add half a spoon of cheese spread to three eggs. And you beat it first. So the richness in the egg goes away automatically."

Then comes the moment when the liquid mixture - made from whisked eggs, cream, butter, and cheese - hits the pan, beginning to give you pure hunger pangs from the sizzle. The chef shared, "After that, you turn on the gas very slowly. And then you slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly, jiggle it."

Ranveer Brar mentioned the next step is to flip it over. He then clarified a critical point: "You should never well-done the egg." When asked why, the chef, with a pinch of his signature wittiness, answered, "If you want a well-done egg, you cook it on 80% of the pan. After that, you turn off the gas. The egg is very sensitive to heat. So it keeps cooking in its own heat. That is the recipe for a good first-timer making an omelette."

'India's Name Sullied': Cricketers' Molestation Sparks Political Row

Two cricketers from the Australian women's national team were inappropriately touched by a man on a motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on Thursday morning. The women were in the city to play in the Women's Cricket World Cup. The incident has led to political outrage with the opposition cornering the ruling BJP government over women's safety in the state, saying the incident has "dragged India's name through the mud".

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari said, "Indore is known for its hospitality, but this raises serious questions about law and order. The fear of the police has vanished in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister, who is also the Home Minister, must answer who was responsible and what went wrong."

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi said the Madhya Pradesh government "must ensure swift justice and stronger deterrence". "Silence is complicity. We must do better," he said.

"Deeply disturbing to learn of the stalking and molestation of Australian women cricketers in Indore. Every such incident is a grim reminder that women's safety must be non-negotiable, for Indians and guests alike. Madhya Pradesh must ensure swift justice and stronger deterrence. Silence is complicity. We must do better," the Rajya Sabha MP said in a post on X.

The Trinamool Congress' message to the ruling government was even sterner. "Two Australian women cricketers were molested in an ICC-organised world cricket championship in BJP-ruled Indore. Mind, this happens during the double-engine government rule. It has lowered our heads before the entire world," said TMC general secretary Kunal Ghosh, seeking a "fair probe".

TMC spokesperson Sudip Raha said, "Absolutely horrifying. Australian women cricketers molested in Indore! This is the reality of 'Beti Bachao' under BJP rule." "Before raising fingers upon Bengal, BJP's zamindars must introspect, for it's under their rule that India's daughters and guests are unsafe. They have dragged our nation's name through the mud before the entire world," Raha said.

The BJP has been slamming the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal for "failing" to ensure the safety of women, citing the rape-murder of a woman medic at RG Kar Hospital in August 2024 and the rape of another woman medical student in Durgapur earlier this month.

Madhya Pradesh minister Krishna Gaur, meanwhile, has criticised the Congress for "politicising the issue" and praised the "swift action by the police in arresting the accused".

"This is a shameful and condemnable incident. Such incidents result in strict action by the Madhya Pradesh government under its Zero Tolerance policy, as directed by the state CM, as done in this case... I praise the Madhya Pradesh Police's swift action in arresting the accused," Gaur said.

Targeting the Congress, she said, they are "politicising the issue instead of collectively working towards ensuring the strictest punishment for the perpetrator".

Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has promised the harshest punishment. BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma echoed the sentiment and said, "This incident has shamed Indore. Whether the daughter is from Australia or England, her safety is our responsibility. Strict action will be taken, and NSA proceedings will be initiated against the accused. The molestation of an Australian woman cricketer is unfortunate and shameful. The government acted swiftly and caught the culprit. The accused conspired to defame Indore, a city known worldwide for its cleanliness and culture."

BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma issued a video, warning the accused, "Will be dealt with in such a way that even his ancestors will tremble, and future generations will be too terrified to step out".

The cricketers were allegedly molested while walking from their hotel to a nearby cafe. The accused, identified as Aqeel, reportedly followed the players on a bike before inappropriately touching one of them and fleeing the scene. The man was arrested on Friday evening.

According to sources, the incident took place around 11 am. The terrified players immediately sent an emergency message and live location to their team's security officer, Danny Simmons. "I was reading their message when one of the players called me, crying. She told me what had happened. We immediately dispatched a car and brought them safely to the hotel," Simmons said.

A bystander noted the suspect's bike number, which later helped police track him down through CCTV footage.

Australia played twice this week at Holkar Stadium in Indore — against England on Wednesday and South Africa on Saturday.

The shocking incident prompted a major overhaul of player security ahead of the semifinal-deciding clash between Australia and South Africa today.

Mahaanaryaman Scindia - President of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) - which governs the Holkar stadium - said in a statement, "We are deeply saddened, shocked, and appalled by this unfortunate incident. No woman should have to endure such behaviour. It is extremely painful for the players, for the sports community, and for the people of Indore. One person's act has tarnished the city's image of warmth and respect."

Framework likely to address waste recycling

New Delhi: Feedstock availability for the critical mineral recycling scheme will be addressed through formalisation of collection under the extended producer responsibility (EPR) framework, the Union mines ministry said on Thursday. In an emailed response to ET, the ministry highlighted that integration of waste into the recycling ecosystem would boost prospects for local critical mineral recyclers. The domestic industry has raised concerns that informal feedstock collection, technology and skill gap, and cap on incentives could pose challenges in the implementation of the ₹1,500 crore incentive scheme for critical mineral recycling. The scheme was approved in September and the application process started this month. "Under the EPR framework, e-waste and battery waste management rules obligate extraction of specified end-products," the ministry said, adding that the capacity to process black mass is limited in the country, due to which it is being exported without extracting valuable critical minerals. The Centre expects incentives under the scheme to bring in more recyclers, especially upstream entities such as dismantlers, crushers and shredders into the formal system. "Many private recycling companies are already running scrap collection systems efficiently," the ministry said. E-waste, spent lithium ion batteries (LIBs) and catalytic converters in end-of-life vehicles are categorised among feedstock under the scheme. The annual generation of e-waste in the country is estimated at 1.75 million tonnes, and of spent LIBs at about 60 kilotonnes. "Customs duty elimination in tariff lines of LIB scrap implemented through Union budget 2025-26 will facilitate imports. Over next 4-5 years, the availability of these waste products is going to increase manifold," the ministry said, adding that it does not envisage any problems in the sourcing of feedstock for recycling under the scheme.Commenting on the concerns over the cap on sops, the ministry said the limit was aimed at ensuring wider participation, enlisting a greater number of beneficiaries. The total incentive has been capped at ₹50 crore for big recyclers and ₹25 crore for small recyclers.

Weight Loss After Diwali: A 5-Day Diet Plan To Shed Festive Weight Fast

If your body feels a little heavier after Diwali's parade of laddoos, samosas, and late-night feasts, you are not alone. The season fills hearts (and plates) generously, but once the fairy lights fade, many are left with that familiar post-festive sluggishness and a desperate urge to hit reset. What your body needs, though, is not a detox in disguise - it needs rest and gentle restoration. "After days of sugar, alcohol, and late nights, the gut needs rest and the liver needs support," explains Rashi Agarwal, clinical nutritionist. "A short, balanced reset plan with hydration, fibre, and whole foods can help you drop water weight and reduce inflammation within a few days."

This five-day plan, recommended by NDTV's consultant nutritionist Rupali Datta, takes that advice forward. It focuses on light, home-style Indian meals, mindful hydration, clever snack swaps, and easy movement - designed to bring your system back to balance, not starve it into submission.

Why Post-Diwali Weight Gain Happens

During Diwali, calorie intake naturally spikes - thanks to deep-fried snacks, syrup-drenched sweets, and rounds of festive drinks - it is easy to overshoot your daily calorie limit. Most of these foods are high in refined flour, sugar, saturated fat, and salt, which can slow digestion, cause bloating, and spike blood sugar. Combine that with late-night socialising, erratic meals, and missed workouts, and even the most disciplined find the scale inching up.

The upside? The body rebounds faster than we think. "Sugar and trans fats cause water retention and bloating, while alcohol adds empty calories," says nutritionist Rupali Datta. "Once you return to regular, lighter meals and keep hydration consistent, your system starts letting go of that excess almost immediately."

5-Day Post-Diwali Weight-Loss Meal Plan

Each day in this plan focuses on balance-hydration, high-protein meals, fibre, and foods that gently cleanse without leaving you starving.

Coal stockpile with power plants rises 31%

New Delhi: Coal-fired power plants in India have sufficient fuel supplies, with total coal reserves reaching 44.7 million tonnes as of October 17. This is an increase of 31.1% from a year ago, despite a depletion of approximately 16 million tonnes over the last four and a half months.Experts said the comfortable stock position reflects improved supply coordination and a higher base before the monsoon season. This was aided by lower power demand in the summer months. In June, power plants started with about 60.7 million tonnes of coal stock, which was 27.8% higher from a year ago, giving a good base and sufficient supplies."The higher stock is because of good opening stock and sustained supplies during summer season," a senior government official told ET. "Q2 saw a drop of 15.5 million tonnes, however, supplies have started picking up again."Coal stocks deplete during monsoon and are usually followed by a pickup in fuel production and dispatch in the second half of the financial year. For FY26, the coal ministry has set a coal production target of 1.15 billion tonnes compared with 1.05 billion tonnes in FY25.Power demand showed moderate growth in July and September and was negative in May and June, partly led by good early monsoon rains, resulting in less demand for cooling from households.According to a report from SBICAPS in September, power supply is expected to be flattish year-on-year in the first half of the ongoing financial year.

Gill's Expression Speaks Volumes After 'Pakistan Zindabad' Chant In Adelaide

Shubman Gill, the captain of the Indian cricket team, had a bizarre experience on Wednesday. While taking a stroll through the streets of Adelaide - where India is set to play Australia in the second ODI on Thursday - a fan approached Gill, shook hands, and was then heard, in a viral video, unexpectedly saying, "Pakistan Zindabad." Gill's stoic reaction to the statement spoke volumes about his composure and restraint. However, NDTV cannot independently verify the authenticity of the audio in the viral clip.

Team India's senior pro Virat Kohli, vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, and skipper Shubman Gill opted out of the team's second training session ahead of their second ODI contest against Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. While fans gathered in good numbers to catch a glimpse of India's top guns practising in the nets, the three senior cricketers skipped the optional session, with only Rohit Sharma from India's top-order lineup taking part.

The veteran Indian opener did some knocking, faced casual throwdowns, and focused on his timing during the 15-20 minutes he spent in the nets.

Kohli and Gill did not have a memorable outing against the Aussies in the first ODI, with the former dismissed for an eight-ball duck and the latter scoring just 10 runs off 18 balls.

Iyer also struggled to get going in the rain-marred affair, managing only 11 runs from 24 deliveries before being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood.

KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel batted in the nets, with Rahul also seen going through wicketkeeping drills.

Team India primarily focused on bowling during the session. Bowling coach Morne Morkel was seen in a deep discussion with pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj, working on seam position and loading.

Markers were placed at the good-length area as Siraj and Prasidh Krishna bowled in the nets. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who looked in good form with the bat during his debut in the series opener in Perth on Sunday, focused on his bowling in the second training session.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav continued practising in the nets, and Yashasvi Jaiswal also rolled his arm over.

After 8 years, Andhra prawns return to Australia

Eight years after restricting shrimp imports from India, Australia on Tuesday granted first import approval for unpeeled Indian prawns from Andhra Pradesh. After Trump tariffs hit Indian shrimp exports, Australia has granted conditional approval for a consignment. This is the first approval since January 2017 when Australia had banned unpeeled prawn imports from India after the detection of white spot virus in certain consignments. The decision has a direct impact on Andhra Pradesh, which accounts for 80% of India's shrimp exports and had been exporting about 70% of its shrimp to the US.Australia's decision to allow conditional import was announced by Andhra Pradesh IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh, who is on a seven-day partnership tour to Australia. "A long-standing hurdle for Indian seafood exporters has been Australia's restrictions on unpeeled prawns due to white spot virus detection. Today, the first import approval for Indian prawns has been granted," Lokesh posted on X, terming the development as a "major step forward" for the sector.Imposition of the tariffs by the Trump administration, which touched 59.72%, had a direct impact on Andhra's shrimp exports.Importers in Australia and New Zealand have been pushing their governments to ease import restrictions. Speaking to ET, Dileep Maddukuri of Auckland-based Hasper Brand Labs said, "Australia has allowed a consignment of prawns from India with certain conditions. These include the product (prawns) has to be organically harvested in disease-free zones. This is to ensure that the shipment is free of white spot virus. This is a new condition. There are other conditions like prawns have to be frozen and deveined. But these were a requirement prior to 2017 as well." Maddukuri explained that if an importer has to source prawns from another country, he applies for a permit specifying which country they want to bring the shipment from.

Video: Woman Repeatedly Slaps Security Guard In Greater Noida Complex

A video is being widely shared in which a woman can be seen repeatedly slapping the security guard of a housing complex in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida.

Apple hits first record of 2025

Apple Inc. shares hit their first record of 2025 on Monday after Loop Capital upgraded the stock to buy from hold, becoming the latest firm to cite positive iPhone demand trends.Shares rose as much as 3.1% to $260.20, taking out an all-time high that had stood since December. Apple had been a high profile underperformer among S&P 500 Index stocks for much of the year, down as much as 31% at its worst point in April. But since then the iPhone maker has soared more than 50%, finally turning positive for the year in late September. The recent strength comes amid signs of stronger-than-expected demand for its latest iPhone lineup, adding to hopes that a long-awaited upgrade cycle could be underway. Over the weekend, an analysis from Counterpoint Research showed the iPhone 17 series outsold the iPhone 16 by 14% over their respective first 10 days on sale in the US and China.“We are now at the front end of Apple’s long-anticipated adoption cycle,” Loop analyst Ananda Baruah wrote in his upgrade note. This reflects “a combination of refresh cycle and demand catalyzed by new design cycles.” He also raised his price target to a Street-high view of $315, implying upside of about 25% from Friday’s close. 124708324Investors had been looking for a similar upgrade bump following the release of the iPhone 16 but came away largely disappointed after its much-hyped AI features were either delayed or never released at all. However, more firms beyond Loop are turning more positive on Apple’s prospects. Evercore ISI added the stock to its tactical outperform list, as data on iPhone demand “suggest this may be more than the average iPhone refresh cycle.” Melius Research analyst Ben Reitzes sees it “getting its groove back,” writing that “Apple is on a mission to silence its critics.” He touted positive trends in China and “momentum in new models overall,” with upcoming products likely to act as additional catalysts. Still, not everyone is so sure that the early momentum for the iPhone 17 justifies Apple’s valuation. Shares trade at more than 32 times estimated earnings, well above their 10-year average of 22 times. Apple also trades at a premium to the Nasdaq 100, and is the most-expensive member of the Magnificent Seven, save for Tesla Inc.Apple also remains less-loved than other megacaps. Even with Loop’s upgrade, just 58% of the analysts tracked by Bloomberg recommend buying the stock, the lowest share among other magnificent seven stock outside of Tesla.Jefferies analyst Edison Lee, one of just four with a sell-equivalent rating on Apple, cautioned over the weekend that “sales momentum of iPhone 17 continues to cool off.” Earlier this month Lee downgraded the stock to underperform, warning that excitement for a potential foldable iPhone is “overdone” as it would likely come with a hefty price tag and also “cannibalize” sales of the Pro Max version.

DDLJ At 30: Inside Maratha Mandir's Eternal Romance With SRK-Kajol's Film

In the heart of Mumbai, tucked between the chaos of traffic and the aroma of cutting chai, stands a theatre that has defied time - Maratha Mandir. Its old-world charm greets you even before you enter - the classic marquee letters, the faded posters, the single-screen aura that's slowly disappearing from the city's skyline. But step inside, and you realise something extraordinary - here, love still plays every day at 11:30 AM sharp.

For thirty years now, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge - or DDLJ, as an entire generation lovingly calls it - has been running at this very theatre. Not just running but thriving. In a city where every Friday brings a new release and where cinematic fads change faster than Instagram trends, DDLJ continues to pull in crowds, sometimes outnumbering newer films.

Thirty years on, DDLJ isn't just a film that runs - it's a heartbeat that refuses to fade.

It's Diwali, and while India woke up to festive rituals, a few chose to start their day with their first love - cinema. Outside Maratha Mandir, it was a different kind of festival. The film's 30th anniversary had turned the usually quiet morning show into a celebration. A crowd gathered well before showtime - some clutching tickets, others posing for photos in front of the iconic poster. There were hand-painted placards, posters, and a line that snaked around the theatre entrance.

Among the crowd stood a father who first watched DDLJ at Maratha Mandir when he was sixteen. He was back now with his wife - who was watching it here for the first time - and their three kids, aged ten, seven, and three.

"I wanted them to feel what we did," he said, smiling. "Watching DDLJ here is not just watching a movie, it's an experience."

Another father had travelled over 2,000 kilometres from Shantiniketan, West Bengal, with his teenage daughter.

"She's interested in acting and is a huge SRK fan," he said proudly, holding up his ticket. "When she said she wanted to watch DDLJ on the big screen, I decided to bring her here. We need to change with time, but some films are timeless."

A woman standing in the queue held up a Swiss cowbell. When asked about it later, she smiled and said, "I travelled to Switzerland just to visit all the DDLJ locations. This bell is from the same shop where Raj buys it for Simran. Watching the film again here feels like coming full circle."

There were also three Swiss tourists in line, each holding their ticket with excitement.

"We knew about this film and that parts of it were shot in Switzerland," one of them said. "But watching it here, in this theatre, is different. SRK is a legend."

Inside the theatre, the nostalgia deepened. The familiar smell of popcorn, the faint creak of wooden seats, the aroma of oily samosas - everything felt like stepping back in time. The moment the opening notes of Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye filled the hall, the crowd erupted. It's Kajol's introduction song, but the cheers were reserved for Shah Rukh Khan's grand entry as Raj. When he finally appears on screen, arms wide open, the theatre broke into applause and whistles.

When Raj extended his hand to Simran in that legendary train scene, the hall turned into a sea of cheers. Dialogues were spoken in unison, every punchline met with applause, every emotional moment followed by sighs. Songs like Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam became collective karaoke sessions - strangers singing together, eyes lit with joy.

Through the doors, you could hear the film's dialogues and songs spilling into the theatre lobby. In a dimly lit corner office sat Manoj Pandey, the manager of Maratha Mandir for over two decades.

Speaking about the moment, he said, "We want people to enjoy, so we've never increased the prices - stalls are still Rs 30, and balcony seats Rs 50. When the film first released, it came as a physical print; now it's digital. We've evolved with time, so the audience keeps enjoying it. There are days when DDLJ has more audience than new releases."

As the end credits rolled, no one rushed to leave. People stood, clapping, smiling, some taking photos of the screen as if to capture the feeling forever. Outside, fans brought out a cake with the film's iconic scene - Raj and Simran embracing in the yellow mustard fields - printed on it, cutting it to mark 30 years of love, cinema, and magic.

Because inside Maratha Mandir, it isn't just a movie playing - it's a ritual, a shared memory, a timeless story that continues to unite generations.

Even after three decades, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge remains what it has always been - a celebration of love, of cinema, and of that undying hope that somewhere, someone will still say, "Bade bade deshon mein aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain."

And at Maratha Mandir, that love story still plays on.

Ukraine Hits Russian Gas Plant As Trump Hints Kyiv Will Have To Cede Land

Ukrainian drones struck a major gas processing plant in southern Russia, sparking a fire and forcing it to suspend its intake of gas from Kazakhstan, Russian and Kazakh authorities said Sunday.

US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, suggested that Kyiv may have to give up territory in exchange for an end to Moscow's more than 3 1/2-year invasion, in the latest of apparent reversals on how to pursue peace.

The Orenburg plant, run by state-owned gas giant Gazprom and located in a region of the same name near the Kazakh border, is part of a production and processing complex that is one of the world's largest facilities of its kind, with an annual capacity of 45 billion cubic meters. It handles gas condensate from Kazakhstan's Karachaganak field, alongside Orenburg's own oil and gas fields.

According to regional Gov. Yevgeny Solntsev, the drone strikes set fire to a workshop at the plant and damaged part of it. The Kazakh Energy Ministry on Sunday said, citing a notification from Gazprom, that the plant was temporarily unable to process gas originating in Kazakhstan, "due to an emergency situation following a drone attack."

Ukraine's General Staff said in a statement Sunday that a "large-scale fire" erupted at the Orenburg plant, and that one of its gas processing and purification units was damaged.

Kyiv has ramped up attacks in recent months on Russian energy facilities, it says, both funding and directly fueling Moscow's war effort.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian prosecutors claim that Moscow is modifying its deadly aerial-guided bombs to strike civilians deeper in Ukraine. Local authorities in Kharkiv said Russia struck a residential neighbourhood using a new rocket-powered aerial bomb for the first time.

Kharkiv's regional prosecutor's office said in a statement that Russia used the weapon called the UMPB-5R, which can travel up to 130 kilometres (80 miles), in an attack on the city of Lozava on Saturday afternoon. The city lies 150 kilometres (93 miles) south of Kharkiv, a considerable distance for the weapon to fly.

Russia continued to strike other parts of Ukraine closer to the front line. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, at least 11 people were injured after Russian drones hit the Shakhtarske area. At least 14 five-story buildings and a store were damaged, said acting regional Gov. Vladyslav Haivanenko.

Ukraine's General Staff also claimed a separate drone strike hit Russia's Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery, in the Samara region near Orenburg, sparking a blaze and damaging its main refining units.

The Novokuibyshevsk facility, operated by Russian gas major Rosneft, has an annual capacity of 4.9 million tons and turns out over 20 kinds of oil-based products. Russian authorities did not immediately acknowledge the Ukrainian claim or discuss any damage.

Russia's Defence Ministry said in a statement early Sunday that its air defence forces had shot down 45 Ukrainian drones during the night, including 12 over the Samara region, one over the Orenburg region and 11 over the Saratov region, neighbouring Samara.

In turn, Ukraine's air force reported Sunday that Russia, during the night, launched 62 drones into Ukrainian territory. It said 40 of these were shot down or veered off course due to electronic jamming.

Trump appeared to edge back in the direction of pressing Ukraine to give up on retaking land it has lost to Russia, in exchange for an end to Moscow's aggression.

Asked in a Fox News interview conducted Thursday whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would be open to ending the war "without taking significant property from Ukraine," Trump responded: "Well, he's going to take something."

"They fought, and he has a lot of property. He's won certain property," Trump said. "We're the only nation that goes in, wins a war and then leaves."

The interview was aired on Sunday on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," but was conducted before Trump spoke to Putin and Zelensky last week.

The comments amounted to another shift in position on the war by the US leader. In recent weeks, Trump has shown growing impatience with Putin and expressed greater openness to helping Ukraine win the war.

In Thursday's interview, he was noncommittal about sending Tomahawk missiles requested by Ukraine, saying "I'm looking at it" but expressing concern about depleting US weapons stocks.

"We need them for ourselves too," Trump said. "We can't give all our weapons to Ukraine. We just can't do that."

Russians and Ukrainians interviewed by The Associated Press last week voiced hopes for progress at an upcoming summit between Trump and Putin in Budapest, Hungary, but said they anticipated no breakthrough.

The two leaders agreed in a phone call on Thursday to meet in the coming weeks, according to Trump, who also sat down with Zelensky at the White House on Friday.

Contrary to Kyiv's hopes, Trump did not commit to providing it with Tomahawks following that meeting. The missiles would be the longest-range weapons in Ukraine's arsenal and would allow it to strike targets deep inside Russia, including Moscow, with precision.

Deliveries of Tomahawks could provide leverage to help push the Kremlin into negotiations, analysts say, after Trump expressed frustration over Putin's refusal to budge on key aspects of a possible peace deal.

Rishi Sunak's Post On PM Modi, India After Attending NDTV World Summit 2025

Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has praised India's "energy and ambition" and described the India-UK partnership as "hugely promising for the future," after attending the NDTV World Summit 2025 in New Delhi.

In a social media post following the event, Sunak wrote: "It was a pleasure to join the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi and reconnect with my good friend @narendramodi. We spoke about the challenges and opportunities shaping the decade ahead, from AI and infrastructure to global growth and economic resilience. India's energy and ambition are unmistakable. As new ideas and industries emerge, there's huge potential for deeper partnerships between countries like the UK and India in business, technology and education."

The post followed his appearance at the two-day summit, where Sunak discussed globalisation, the recently concluded India-UK trade agreement, and the growing importance of cooperation in an era of geopolitical uncertainty.

Speaking at a session moderated by NDTV's CEO and Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal, Senior Managing Editor Vishnu Som, and Managing Editor Padmaja Joshi, the former British PM said the world he grew up in "no longer exists."

"The old global order, or globalisation, that I grew up with, which came into place after the fall of the Berlin Wall, that is gone, and I don't think it is coming back," Sunak said.

He argued that the coming decade would be defined by "multipolarity and domestic capabilities", with India serving as a clear example of both. "There will be more multipolarity in the world - and India is an example of that - and the second thing is that countries everywhere are focused much more on domestic capabilities," he said.

Sunak pointed to the Covid-19 pandemic as a key moment that reshaped governments' approach to self-reliance.

"Covid was not just a health crisis; it was a geopolitical event," he noted. "Every country suddenly realised the fragility of their supply chains."

Turning to global trade and strategic competition, Sunak said that China's approach to economic engagement had forced democracies to reconsider traditional trade norms.

"It is clear China does not play by the same rules that many of the rest of us were playing by. They don't view trade purely as an economic function," he remarked. "Countries have had to think about security, intellectual property theft, and strategic dependency alongside trade. That's why the UK and several others banned Huawei equipment and passed new national security Acts."

Sunak served as the UK's first prime minister of Indian origin between October 2022 and July 2024.

Born in Southampton in 1980, Sunak's grandparents migrated from British India to East Africa and later to the United Kingdom in the 1960s. He is married to Akshata Murthy, the daughter of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and philanthropist-turned-MP Sudha Murty.
