NEW DELHI: Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali is in the process of launching an ecommerce platform to exclusively supply made-in-India products and swadeshi solutions. The platform, OrderMe, will offer Patanjali’s own ayurvedic products as well as connect the consumer to shops in his vicinity selling Indian products. Orders will be home delivered free of cost within hours, people with direct knowledge of the move said. It will also offer free online medical consultation round the clock from nearly 1,500 doctors of Patanjali, as well as Yoga tutorials. The platform may be launched within a fortnight, they said.75749069The consumer goods company’s chief executive, Acharya Balkrishna, confirmed the plan, calling it an endeavour to supply swadeshi products in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “vocal for local” call.“OrderMe will only supply and endorse swadeshi products. It is Patanjali’s effort to contribute to our long-standing swadeshi movement by connecting all the local retailers and small shop owners so that those selling swadeshi products can benefit from our platform,” Balkrishna told ET. “They can join the platform and the plan is to deliver their products free of cost.” Micro, small and medium enterprises supplying domestic products will be encouraged to join the platform and benefit from it, he said. The new app will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. It has been developed by a team of Indian engineers at Patanjali’s information technology company, New Delhi-based Bharuwa Solutions. The IT company employs more than 100 people, including a few from Nepal.Balkrishna said a software developed in-house at Patanjali was now being used to manage its nationwide distribution, sale and supply of products. The new platform will work alongside the existing one and offer more than 800 Patanjali products, which will be sourced from the Patanjali stores near to the consumer, said an executive associated with the project. The consumer can also sift through product catalogue of other nearby stores. “The platform will be launched on a grand scale and depending on response, products will be added,” he said.
