Sumant Sinha's silver lining in the crisis

When your corner office overlooks a lake and golf course and you get to have your dog around, working from home can be a sweet deal. “I live on the Golf Course Road in Gurugram and the view from my home office is quite serene. I enjoy watching the sunset in the evening,” says Sumant Sinha, CMD, ReNew Power.An unexpected boonSinha says that working from home has also given him an opportunity to focus on his personal development, something he couldn’t before because of travel commitments.“It’s saved me a lot of time. I’m leading an orderly lifestyle. I also have the time to focus on health and relationships,” he says.His son who studies in the US is also back home. “A plus point about the lockdown is that it has allowed me more family time,” Sinha says.Sinha is honest about his contribution (or the lack of ) to household work, as work takes up a bulk of his time. He sets aside a few hours for exercising though. “We won’t get an opportunity like this in the future to get fit. One has to find the silver lining in any crisis. I’m also catching up on reading and watching TV series,” Sinha adds.Life lessonsThe finding the silver lining motto extends to more taxing situations too, he reveals. “You can’t plan for everything. You just need to have the mental fortitude and flexibility to take such things in your stride and carry on. Moreover, in every crisis there is an opportunity. It’s up to you to find it and take advantage of it,” he adds.So, what is he looking forward to in a post-lockdown world? “My daughter, who works in the US, couldn’t get back. Once the lockdown ends, we are really looking forward to getting back together. And eat sushi. And go to a beach,” Sinha says.76276918
