‘Green tea bag hack’ to get through Zoom calls

Nikhil Kamath, co-founder, True Beacon and Zerodha, says his everyday look during the lockdown is a pair of jeans paired with a formal or semiformal shirt. “It works simply because it is easy and there is no time for overthinking in the morning,” he says.Kamath says dressing up has now become “cliched”. “For a strategy meeting with my team, I wear jeans and a T-shirt. If it’s a pitch or a networking call, I would maybe put on a sports jacket. If I’m video calling friends for a virtual drink, an old, torn T-shirt with jeans,” Kamath says.Hack trackIf there’s an unexpected Zoom call and you don’t have the time to freshen up, Kamath suggests placing some green tea bags on your eyes for a few minutes. “It’s a great way to stay fresh throughout the day,” he adds.Watch talkKamath says he is not very brand conscious. “The only things I splurge on are vintage watches,” he says. However, because of the lockdown, he hasn’t been able to buy anything recently. “The most recent watch purchase I made was a Vintage LeCoultre (circa 1920), before the brand turned into Jaeger-LeCoultre. [This was] One of the first Seamasters from the 1950s, which went on to define Omega in a big way. Since I am inclined towards the stories and history of vintage watches, I’m drawn to these,” he explains.His favourite watch brand? “FP Journe. Though it is not vintage, it is my favourite,” he said.Cap it offThe wardrobe accessory Kamath has missed having the most during the lockdown has been a cap. “I do not own a cap. Unfortunately, I lost the last one I had. With a prolonged lockdown and no haircuts, I definitely could have used one,” he says with a laugh.So how would his next cap look? “Any cap that makes me look human despite not having a proper haircut in the past four months.”Mask itKamath says he uses a generic black mask, one he bought in bulk for a campaign his company was running.76062743
